The waves were roaring, the adrenaline was pumping, and QLDs finest were ready to conquer the surf at the 2024 Queensland Bodyboarding State Titles. Hosted by the Gold Coast Bodyboard Club and proudly sponsored by Inverted Bodyboarding and Convict Bodyboarding Australia, this event brought together some of the most talented riders from across the state to compete for glory and the honour of being named champion.
Pro Division:
In the highly competitive Pro division, it was Kaito Sato who emerged as the champion, showcasing incredible skill and determination in the water. Following closely behind was Liam O’Toole, securing the second spot, with Jai Taylor and Cooper Stewart claiming the third and fourth positions respectively.
Opens Division:
Liam O’Toole proved his prowess once again in the Opens division, claiming the top spot and demonstrating unmatched talent on the waves. Jye Love, Tim Oliver, and Jai Taylor rounded out the top four, showcasing their exceptional abilities in this fiercely contested category.
Drop Knee Division:
Justin Kirkpatrick took home the title in the Drop Knee division, displaying finesse and style as he carved through the waves with precision. Mitch Curtin and Daniel Leyshon showcased their skills, securing the second and third positions respectively, in a display of impressive athleticism and technique.
Masters Division:
Experience prevailed in the Masters division, with Daniel Leyshon emerging victorious, followed closely by Mitch Curtin and Ben Wells. These seasoned riders proved that age is no barrier when it comes to mastering the art of bodyboarding.
Grand Masters Division:
Scott Wrigley claimed the top spot in the Grand Masters division, showcasing years of dedication and passion for the sport. Justin Kirkpatrick and Darrel Nelson displayed exceptional skill and determination, securing the second and third positions respectively.
Juniors Division:
In the Juniors division, it was Cooper Stewart who stole the show, displaying impressive talent and composure beyond his years. Kaito Sato, Tully Roberts, and Jai Taylor also put on stellar performances, rounding out the top four in this fiercely competitive category.
Cadets and Grommets Division:
The young guns were out in force, showing us what they're made of in the Cadets and Grommets divisions! Zayde Taylor dominated the Cadets division, proving himself as a force to be reckoned with in the future of bodyboarding. Meanwhile, Eden Wrigley and Van Taylor displayed their raw talent and promise, with Van Taylor also securing the top spot in the Grommets division. These groms are the ones to watch as they carve their way to the top of the Aussie bodyboarding scene!
