Plugging Bodyboard Information
What is a Bodyboard Leash Plug?
A bodyboard leash plug is a screw-in attachment that is inserted into the bodyboard. It serves as the point where the leash cord (or "tether") connects from your arm to the board. This helps prevent the board from floating away or getting lost, especially after you wipe out in the whitewash.
Important: The leash is not a safety device and should not be used as a means to drag or pull the board. It is designed to be a last-resort tool for retrieving your board if it gets away from you.
What side should I install the leash plug on my bodyboard?
Typically, you should install the leash plug on the same side as the arm you’ll use to wear the leash, often your dominant arm. For example, if you’re right-handed and plan to wear the leash on your right arm, the plug should be installed on the right side of the board. This ensures everything is aligned on one side for ease of use.
Where will the Inverted team install the leash plug?
As part of our free service, our team will install the plug on the best possible spot on your preferred side, based on our experience. With over 20 years in the industry, we ensure it’s placed in the ideal location, just as we would for our own boards.
If you have preferences or a specific spot in mind for your plug, please let us know before purchasing or include your preference in the order comments. Feel free to contact us HERE! for more details!
Will you install the leash plug over the logo?
In some cases, the logos on the deck of the bodyboard (such as the NMD or Science logos) can be quite large, and may be positioned in the optimal spot for plug installation. If you'd prefer us not to place the plug over the logo, please specify this in your order comments or contact us directly.
Why do some boards have a "Plug Centre" option and others do not?
If a bodyboard features a single central stringer (strengthening rod) that runs down the center it limits plug installation to either the left or right side. However, boards with the "Plug Centre" option have either two stringers or no stringers at all, allowing us to install the plug directly in the center of the board.
Why do some online bodyboard stores offer "Plug Centre" on ALL boards?
We follow manufactures instructions on all bodyboards, this means that if you hit the stringer or install the plug too close to any stringer, this will weaken the integrity of the board, allowing water to enter the stringer, dislodge the stringer and completely void the warranty of the board from the manufacture. Which is why we do not offer this as an option.
Why does the logo come off the deck (top side) of bodyboard?
Some bodyboards have an ink printed logos on the decking skin, in time your leash and leash cord can rub over this logo and essentially stratch this print off, due to the ink sitting on the surface.
